Each May, Mental Health Awareness Month offers us an important opportunity to shine a light on a topic that often remains in the shadows—especially in the construction industry.

Construction is a field built on strength, grit, and resilience. But behind the hard hats and steel-toed boots are real people—fathers, mothers, sons, daughters—facing silent struggles. According to the CDC, construction has one of the highest suicide rates of any industry. That’s a sobering statistic we can’t ignore.

I am a strong believer that we need to step out of the darkness and stop suffering in silence.

Below are the socials the artist Dax. His song "To Be a Man" helped me recognize my own mental health struggles and gave me the push to seek help when I needed it most.
